Pass the NetApp Certified Storage Installation Engineer, ONTAP exam to stay ahead of the technology curve. Those that achieve this certification have validation of skills, knowledge, and capability in setting up, configuring, installing, testing, and troubleshooting NetApp storage systems.
This exam verifies that
The exam tests a candidate’s ability to set up, configure, install, test, and troubleshoot NetApp storage systems.
Candidates should have at least six to 12 months of experience with NetApp® ONTAP® solutions, including setting up, configuring, installing, testing, and troubleshooting NetApp storage systems.
It is recommended (but not required) that NCSIE candidates first achieve the NetApp Certified Data Administrator (NCDA) certification.
You should be able to do these tasks:
- Set up NetApp storage systems
- Configure NetApp storage systems
- Install NetApp storage systems
- Test NetApp storage systems
- Troubleshoot NetApp storage systems

- Installation or expansion of an ONTAP cluster
Domain 3. ONTAP Networking
- Configure ONTAP system networking
- Network types used with ONTAP clusters
Domain 4. ONTAP Switches
- Cabling of a switched cluster
- Software needed for cluster switch configuration
Domain 5. ONTAP Configuration
- Add or remove nodes in an ONTAP cluster
- Set up cluster peering
- Implement security hardening
- Support resources required for troubleshooting ONTAP installations
Domain 6. Customer Handoff
- Tools available to review an installation
- Handover of new ONTAP cluster installation to the customer
- Create documentation
